Waterfall Edge Countertop

A waterfall edge countertop uses materials like Cambria Brittanicca quartz or Calacatta marble that flow down the sides of cabinets. It creates a dramatic, seamless effect in kitchens or baths. This design was adopted by 23% of luxury kitchens in 2023. Homeowners love this countertop design because it protects the cabinetry, and it's easy to clean.

Common Countertop Issues We Fix

Cracks & Chips
Granite, quartz (like Caesarstone), and concrete countertops can crack or chip—especially near corners or sink cutouts. Concrete often gets small cracks as it cures. Dropping a heavy pot on quartz or granite can chip the edge. Poor cabinet support underneath makes this worse.

Staining

Marble stains easily from wine, coffee, or lemon juice because it's very porous. Even light-colored quartz (like MSI Frost White) can stain if the surface resin breaks down. Natural stone needs sealing every 6–12 months to block stains.

Separated Seam

Seams in quartz or solid surface countertops (like Corian) can split if the cabinets shift or if glue fails. Seams should be very thin—around 1/16 inch. Heat near the seam or moisture can cause glue to loosen, especially with cheaper adhesives.

Heat Damage

Quartz can burn if a pan over 300°F is placed directly on it—the resin can melt. Laminate brands like Formica or Wilsonart can bubble or discolor at just 150°F. Only granite or soapstone can safely handle high heat, but it's still best to use trivets.

Water Damage & Warping

Wood countertops like butcher block can swell, crack, or grow mold near sinks if not sealed. Laminate countertops with a particleboard base can bubble or peel when water gets in the seams—this can happen in just a few months without good caulking.

Scratches and Surface Wear

Soft materials like soapstone, laminate, and Corian can scratch from daily use. Even sliding a pot or utensil can leave marks. Quartz and granite are harder and more scratch-resistant, but still not scratch-proof. Over time, surfaces can dull without care.
